In cases of intestinal carcinoma it is vital to determine the exact location of the tumour and whether it has metastasized. In line with this, the initial stage of the program involves a thorough workup. As colon tumours are usually aggressive the required investigations are performed as quickly as possible. In fact, with our colon cancer treatment in Israel program, the diagnostic stage only takes 5 days. All tests are performed at two of Israel’s top medical facilities – Ichilov and Assuta hospitals in Tel Aviv.
The schedule for the work-up is as follows:
If extraintestinal spread is observed on PET/CT (for example, omental or lung mets) the treatment of choice is chemotherapy to combat the metastases. If no extraintestinal spread is seen, or if the tumour has only metastasized into the intestinal lymph nodes, the preferred treatment is an organ-preserving surgical intervention that does not require a colostomy. The exact procedure is determined by the mass’ localization.
The fee for the operation covers:
It is advised you remain in Israel for approximately 10 days following your discharge from the hospital for outpatient follow-up and care.
The surgical procedure will take place at the renowned Assuta Hospital, and will be performed by Dr. Marat Khaikin, who is one of the leading experts in the field in Israel.
