Soft Tissue and Bone Cancer Treatment in Israel
Bone and soft tissue cancers are a large and heterogeneous group of malignant mesenchymal tumours. When such a condition (i.e. sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, etc.) is suspected, a very thorough work-up is required to determine the exact type of tumour and devise the most appropriate treatment plan. Listed below is our soft tissue and bone cancer treatment program in Israel.
Work-up
Workup will include the following investigations:
- Extensive blood workup (including tumour markers)
- Revision of pathology specimens including basic IHC staining (provided one was performed at an earlier date)
- PET CT scan
- MRI of the affected area
- Orthopedic oncologist consultation
- Oncologist consultation
The investigations will take 5 business days to complete. Please note that if you hadn’t had a biopsy prior to your arrival in Israel, or if the samples you've brought with you are of insufficient quality, a new biopsy will be performed.
Treatment
Soft tissue and bone cancer treatment usually includes 6 to 8 cycles of chemotherapy (sometimes in conjunction with radiation therapy) followed by surgery. The price of the operation is determined by the tumour's size and location; however, it will usually include the following:
- Routine preoperative preparation including an ECG, chest X-ray and an anesthesiologist consultation
- Operative procedure and 5 days of hospitalization
- Disposable and surgical materials
- Express pathological study and conclusive histopathological study.
All medical procedures will take place at Assuta Medical Center's Tel Aviv's branch.
