For the past 10 years Prof. Shimon Maimon has served as the head of the Invasive Radiosurgery Department at Sourasky Hospital (Ichilov Medical Center). He is also one of the senior specialists at Assuta Medical Center’s Department of Invasive Radiology. Over his career prof. Maimon performed over six thousand invasive neuroradiologic procedures and more than 800 AVM treatments both in Israel and abroad. In 1998 he has founded the first invasive neuroradiology unit in Israel.

Prof. Maimon’s main field of expertise, invasive neurointervention (endovascular radiology), has in recent become years become a vital alternative to open brain surgery, and reduced the amount of instances it is needed. The minimally invasive technique allows specialists to manipulate CNS without needing to open up the patient’s skull and entering the brain tissue. Education and Experience:

Prof. Shimon Maimon graduated from Tel Aviv University’s Medical School. To date he has been published over 100 articles in the field of invasive radiology and takes active part in research aimed at improving stent quality and developing innovative methods of treating intracranial malformations.
