Hepatitis is a serious viral liver disease. When left untreated, it can cause liver cirrhosis or cancer. In Israel, Hepatitis C treatment is performed according to state-of-the-art protocols utilizing the newest available medications. This is why Israeli clinics have a 97% success rate of curing the disease.

Work-up

Undergoing your hepatitis treatment in Israel gives you very high chances of recovering from the disease. Our patients benefit from one of the most advanced Hep C treatment facilities in the world. The clinic’s specialists have successfully treated patients from all over the world. It also routinely takes part in clinical trials of new, more effective drugs (for example, Interferon with reduced side effects and a drug meant to combat the decrease of thrombocytes that occurs during treatment).

Viral hepatitis requires constant monitoring of liver functions, as well as the patient’s general condition and viral load. In order to achieve this, the Hepatitis C clinic we refer our patients to employs a carefully designed complex of medical investigations, in line with up-to-date hepatic treatment protocols.

Hepatitis C Treatment

Our program, aimed at thoroughly evaluating both the state of the patient’s liver and their overall condition, includes the following investigations:

  • Full blood work-up (including CBC, CMP, liver functions & serology, electrolyte & vitamins levels, hormonal profile, coagulation factors, lipid profile, AFP and tumour markers)
  • Immunogenetic studies (phenotyping and quantitative PCR)
  • Abdominal US Scan and Doppler US of hepatic blood vessels
  • Necroinflammatory activity score evaluation (using FibroScan® technique or by means of FibroTest (FibroSure) test)
  • Hepatologist consultation

The work-up takes 3 business days, however, you will have to wait for approximately 2 to 3 weeks to get the genotyping and activity lab test results. This will help determine the length of your treatment (which can range from 6 to 12 months). The innovative method of treatment we use minimizes treatment times and maximizes chances of recovery.

You’ll be able to return home after the workup. We’ll send any further medical recommendations by email, so you can undergo treatment at your country of residence. Please note, however, that we do advise you to remain in Israel for the first two weeks of treatment as it is extremely important to monitor your reaction to the drugs during the early stages.

The treatment protocol is personalized and depends on the disease’s genotype and stage of liver fibrosis. This is why the final price will be known only after all the investigations has been completed. All prescribed medications are available for purchase in Israel.

Hepatitis B Treatment

Israeli specialists have also learned to successfully treat patients with hepatitis B. As only active forms can be treated, it is vital, when dealing with patients with this diagnosis, to not only evaluate the condition of the liver and the patient's general status, but to also assess whether the virus is active or not.

The workup, which is performed in-line with up-to-date protocols, includes the following investigations:

  • Full blood work-up (including CBC, CMP, liver functions & serology, electrolyte & vitamins levels, hormonal profile, coagulation factors, lipid profile, AFP and tumour markers)
  • Immunogenetic studies (phenotyping and quantitative PCR)
  • Abdominal US Scan and Doppler US of hepatic blood vessels
  • Necroinflammatory activity score evaluation (using FibroScan® technique or by means of FibroTest (FibroSure) test)
  • Hepatologist consultation to determine hepatitis B treatment protocol

The work-up takes 3 business days. Once it has been completed, you will receive recommendations regarding further treatment.

Hepatitis C Symptoms

The virus predominantly spreads through blood. The most common causes of infection are:

  • Transfusion of tainted blood or transplant of tainted organs
  • Injections with tainted needles (including drug use)

Incubation period ranges between 2 weeks and 6 months. 80% of the people infected experience no symptoms in the short term, and may thus remain unaware that they are carrying a dangerous illness. Acute hepatitis C is characterized by:

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea, vomiting and stomach pains
  • Dark urine and lightly/gray-coloured stool
  • Joint pain
  • Jaundice
