Veins carry blood back to the heart. As blood from the legs has to move upwards, against the force of gravity, the body relies on the foot muscles to push it up. Meanwhile, special valves in the veins prevent it from flowing back down. When varicosis, a condition characterised by veins becoming enlarged or twisted, occurs, the valves' function is disrupted, causing blood to flow back down, which, in turn, enlarges the veins even further. This treatment involves the injection of a special chemical called sclerosant into the varicose veins. The chemical damages the vein and causes it to close. The length of your stay in Israel will be determined by the number of treatment sessions required. If satisfactory results are achieved after the first varicose vein treatment ,you will undergo a repeat exam on post-treatment day 7, after which you’ll be able to return home. If a second session is required, you will be required to stay in Israel for 3 extra days.
