Veins carry blood back to the heart. As blood from the legs has to move upwards, against the force of gravity, the body relies on the foot muscles to push it up. Meanwhile, special valves in the veins prevent it from flowing back down. When varicosis, a condition characterised by veins becoming enlarged or twisted, occurs, the valves' function is disrupted, causing blood to flow back down, which, in turn, enlarges the veins even further. The condition most often affects the lower extremities, however, varicose veins can occur in other parts of the body as well. Listed below is the basic varicose vein treatment in Israel program.
The work-up phase will include a lower limbs Doppler ultrasound scan (NIVA) and a vascular surgeon exam. The varicose vein treatment cost will depend on the method of treatment chosen by the surgeon.
This treatment involves the injection of a special chemical called sclerosant into the varicose veins. The chemical damages the vein and causes it to close. Sometimes more than one procedure is needed (sessions are scheduled 7 days apart). In case this is the indicated therapy, the cost will consist of just the price of surgical procedure.
The heat from the laser scars the varicose veins causing them to close. In case this is the indicated therapy, the cost will consist of:
The veins are heated using radiofrequency energy to form scar tissue in the affected veins, thus closing them. In case this is the indicated therapy, the cost will consist of:
The treatment will take place at NARA Medical Center in Ramat Gan.
The length of your stay in Israel will be determined by the number of treatment sessions required. If satisfactory results are achieved after the first varicose vein treatment ,you will undergo a repeat exam on post-treatment day 7, after which you’ll be able to return home. If a second session is required, you will be required to stay in Israel for 3 extra days.
Left untreated, varicosis may lead to various complications including ulcers, bleeding and blood clots
