Shoulder Treatment in Israel

The shoulder joint, which connects the shoulder bone to the scapula, is the body’s most mobile joint. When adhesions form in the articular capsule folds they decrease the joint's range of motion. This, in turn, necessitates surgical intervention. There are three highly-effective types of surgery available: Balloon insertion, shoulder replacement, and shoulder arthroscopy. The decision about which procedure is indicated will be made by your treating specialist based on MRI and physical exam results.

Balloon Insertion

This cutting-edge technology is used exclusively in Israel with impressive success rates. The procedure is minimally invasive. You will be able to lift your arm up to a 90° angle immediately following the surgery and should be able to carry to up to 5 kg pain-free within 3 to 6 months.

The cost of this program includes:

  • Orthopedist consultation
  • Routine preoperative preparation (including an ECG, chest X-ray, blood work-up and a spinal anesthesiologist consultation)
  • Operative procedure and 7 days of hospitalization at a semi-private room at Assuta Medical Center
  • Disposable surgical materials and balloon implant

Expected stay in Israel: 10 days.

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Shoulder replacement surgeries also have a high success rate in Israel. During the procedure your entire shoulder joint is replaced with an endoprosthesis. While you will require extensive physiotherapy, you can realistically look forward to enjoying a full range of motion at the end of treatment.

  • Disposable surgical materials and shoulder joint endoprosthesis

Expected stay in Israel: 20 days.

Shoulder Arthroscopy

This is a “keyhole surgery” performed using a specialized endoscope. If needed, it can be combined with ligament reconstruction. Rehabilitation period lasts for approximately 10 to 14 days, and you can expect to regain a full range of motion in your arm.

  • Disposable surgical materials

Expected stay in Israel: 18-20 days.

Please Note

The suggested treatment program (with a specialist recommended by us) will take place at Assuta Medical Center. If you would like, we can instead arrange the treatment at one of Israel’s public hospitals. In such case, the cost of the surgery (not including the logistics package) will be 20 to 30 per cent lower. However, while we can definitely guarantee that the surgery will be performed by one of that hospital’s top experts, the name of the particular expert will be selected based on their rotation schedule.
