Male Infertility Treatment in Israel

For many couples, reproduction is an easy and natural process. Some, however, will find it difficult to conceive. Approximately 7% of all men suffer from infertility, and the condition amounts to about 40% of all infertility cases. Most common causes of male factor infertility include deficient semen quality and spermatic duct obstruction (even when it is only one-sided, the amount of spermatozoa decreases drastically, significantly lowering the chance of conception). The fertility check-up program aims to determine the causes of the condition, after which local fertility experts can offer an appropriate treatment that will allow the couple to become parents.

Types of Male Infertility

• Primary infertility - diagnosed when none of the patient's partners have become pregnant
• Secondary infertility - diagnosed when patient had previously fathered children, but him and his partner are unable to conceive again

Work-up

The work-up program is drawn-up taking into account your anamnesis. It includes the following investigations (additional tests may be scheduled if indicated):

• Semen analysis
• Urinalysis
• Urine culture
• Spermatozoa (Urine) test (performed in cases of low sperm volume)
• Doppler ultrasound scan of abdomen, pelvis and genitalia
• TRUS (performed in cases of low sperm volume)
• Extensive blood workup (CBC, CMP (including liver enzymes and renal function) and hormone profile (reproductive hormone levels, and pituitary thyroid function)
• Male infertility specialist consultation
• Genetic testing (if ordered by treating physician; normally indicated when the aforementioned investigations fail to determine cause of infertility)

Please note that the additional tests may be scheduled if deemed necessary by your treating specialist.

The aforementioned tests will take 5 business days to complete. When genetic testing is performed, the results are usually ready within 2 to 3 weeks. You do not have to stay in Israel for the duration. We will email you their results, alongside any relevant recommendations stemming from them.

Israeli specialists are renowned for their success in male infertility treatment. In cases when irreversible male sterility is diagnsed, we offer IVF treatment with donor sperm.

Important Remarks

• Please note that assessment of the female partner’s fertility is not included in this program. If you are referred for IVF, your partner is advised to undergo a fertility check-up as well
• Cost of program includes transfers between your hotel and medical center, the services of an English-speaking medical coordinator and translation of all medical documentation into English
