Erectile Dysfunction Treatment & Penile Implant Surgery in Israel

The term impotence (ED) refers to the inability to achieve or maintain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse. The main causes of erectile dysfunction include diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, hormonal imbalance and neurological problems (for example, stemming from a prostatectomy). It is important to note that organic ED is not a disease by itself but rather a symptom of another existing condition. More rarely, they symptoms are psychogenic. Manor Medical Group's erectile dysfunction treatment in Israel program can restore sexual function. Treatment consists of three lines, and includes, if needed, a penile implant surgery.

First Line

  • Drug therapy
  • Treatment with vacuum penile pump devices

Second Line

  • Penile injection therapy
  • Treatment with intraurethral agents

Third Line (Penile Implant Surgery)

  • Vascular reconstructive surgery
  • Penile implant surgery (semi-rigid, 2 and 3-piece implants)

Listed below is the erectile dysfunction treatment diagnostics program. The course of treatment will depend on the findings.

Patients experiencing ED symptoms will be referred for the following investigations:

  • Urologist-andrologist exam
  • Extensive blood work-up (CBC, CMP, glucose levels, lipid profile, hormonal profile); patients over 40 will also have their PSA levels checked

Depending on the results, you may be referred to one or more of the following:

  • Nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) test to determine where the symptoms are organic or psychogenic
  • Penile Doppler ultrasound to evaluate the condition of penile blood vessels, blood flow and cavernous bodies
  • Intracavernous injection test to evaluate the condition of penile blood vessels; this test may also help determine where the symptoms are organic or psychogenic
  • Transrectal (prostate) ultrasound
  • STI testing
  • Lumbar MRI scan

Following the aforementioned investigations you may be (if indicated) referred to a sexopathology expert, neurologist, cardiologist and/or a psychologist. You will also have a follow-up with your treating urologists.

The diagnostics program will take 4 business days to complete.
